Let's Ban Together.......

I have not posted in a while, so much has happened in past few months. Baby Haulston got so big and is quite the character. He greets everyone at the front door of the store ready to follow them on their shopping excursion. We have had great clients adoring their new puppies and enjoying the grooming in our dayspa.
Many new laws have passed recently across the country, some will help in animal  abuse reform. I do feel that much of what gets passed will hinder the platform. You see there are some areas that want to stop the sale of animals in pet stores, some of the laws have already passed. What is happening in the areas that passed the bill banning the sale of puppies, is a major financial burden to the consumer which will eventually lead to more animals being brought to shelters that would not normally have gone to a shelter. When consumers buy from pet stores and kennels, any vet bills are the responsibility of the institution that sold the pet. Pet stores selling puppies also helps the monitoring of the kennels from where they are coming from. The records are available for all to see with state agencies. The passing of this law has sent the consumers to internet purchasing of puppies from the most awful sub-standard breeding kennels in the United States. These people actually think they bought their dog from a kind breeder who really cares about the buyer and the puppy they have shipped. The laws will just send consumers directly to the bad commercial breeders,"Puppy Mills," at least the pet store has the ability to know exactly where the pets are coming from, and hopefully will guide themselves accordingly and purchase from kennels that are licensed and actually pass all State inspections. Breeding kennels should be inspected every 4 months by State agencies and local groups that can help monitor and make sure the breeders are caring properly for their pets. Many consumers will purchase online puppies for very little money, when they arrive sickly these people cannot afford the vet bills and will abandon these puppies at a shelter or just not pick them up from the veterinarian.
By banning the sale of puppies, advocates seem to think that consumers looking to purchase a poodle puppy, will now adopt a pitbull at the shelter. " NOT HAPPENING,"you see these people will not adopt a pitbull or even a  4 year old poodle mix because the stores don't have puppies. They will order on the internet or just drive to the next county where they sell puppies and acquire what they were looking for. Thus, the local municipalities will also lose all the revenues of animal sales. I would like to see how many of the local breeders collect sales tax and pay it to the state, bet you it's close to "ZERO". Stores generate great revenue. The hobby breeders simply cannot support all the consumers looking for pets, which will then send people to the internet to buy a puppy.  Stores generate great revenue.
I think there should be watch force of few store/kennel owners and a few activists, monitoring the out of state breeders and we should be able to name the kennel/owner on a blacklist which will then ban the sale of their puppies from the county or even the state. This list will definitely spread from state to state and will also allow the consumers to view the Breeder Banning list online. All pet stores and kennels and even breeders that advertise should have to post the internet link to the breeder blacklist.
we call our list, "WEEZER's LIST".......I have so many breeders to post to the list. Some stores will get angry, however I don't care. They should not be selling puppies from these horrible people.......
After 24 years of the pet industry I have made my mistakes as well, however I learn from my mistakes and screen the breeders in the best manner I can. I do think with a Black List in place it will make our jobs so much easier and weed out the ones who should not be in the pet industry........

  1. Please change your blog to bow wow babies. It's very confusing for consumers. Barking babies boutique name is trade marked and does not sell puppies.
    Thx
