Hello, Hello, Hello.......I'm back.......
So much has happened this year, We won " Best of Long Island" under the category puppy kennel and many new laws governing the sale of puppies came into play, some helped and some hinderd any true progress. I still have my "WEEZER'S LIST" and I am sticking to it. The 5 star kennel program is a great achievement for breeding kennels, I just hope more retail kennels use them.....The 5 star kennel program makes the breeder strive to be the best in the industry. You can read about 5 star kennels online......

Don't just yes me....LOL
The rating system for Pet Stores is upon us and I think it's a great idea. Let's protect the puppies and the consumers, however let's protect the stores as well...... Let's inact " WEEZER'S LIST". This ban will stop the horrible breeders from coming to New York, Suffolk county to start. I think once this blacklist begins other counties will join in. You cannot stop the importing of all puppies that would be unconstitutional. I know of so many out of state breeders, yes even in the mid west that LOVE and Care about their puppies. But please allow the "stores that care" to start the list and keep it in place......The problem will be monitoring the internet purchases, I do have many ideas to help keep the unsuspecting consumers from purchasing from these sub standard and in humane kennels.......

Let's Ban Together.......
I have not posted in a while, so much has happened in past few months. Baby Haulston got so big and is quite the character. He greets everyone at the front door of the store ready to follow them on their shopping excursion. We have had great clients adoring their new puppies and enjoying the grooming in our dayspa.
Many new laws have passed recently across the country, some will help in animal abuse reform. I do feel that much of what gets passed will hinder the platform. You see there are some areas that want to stop the sale of animals in pet stores, some of the laws have already passed. What is happening in the areas that passed the bill banning the sale of puppies, is a major financial burden to the consumer which will eventually lead to more animals being brought to shelters that would not normally have gone to a shelter. When consumers buy from pet stores and kennels, any vet bills are the responsibility of the institution that sold the pet. Pet stores selling puppies also helps the monitoring of the kennels from where they are coming from. The records are available for all to see with state agencies. The passing of this law has sent the consumers to internet purchasing of puppies from the most awful sub-standard breeding kennels in the United States. These people actually think they bought their dog from a kind breeder who really cares about the buyer and the puppy they have shipped. The laws will just send consumers directly to the bad commercial breeders,"Puppy Mills," at least the pet store has the ability to know exactly where the pets are coming from, and hopefully will guide themselves accordingly and purchase from kennels that are licensed and actually pass all State inspections. Breeding kennels should be inspected every 4 months by State agencies and local groups that can help monitor and make sure the breeders are caring properly for their pets. Many consumers will purchase online puppies for very little money, when they arrive sickly these people cannot afford the vet bills and will abandon these puppies at a shelter or just not pick them up from the veterinarian.
By banning the sale of puppies, advocates seem to think that consumers looking to purchase a poodle puppy, will now adopt a pitbull at the shelter. " NOT HAPPENING,"you see these people will not adopt a pitbull or even a 4 year old poodle mix because the stores don't have puppies. They will order on the internet or just drive to the next county where they sell puppies and acquire what they were looking for. Thus, the local municipalities will also lose all the revenues of animal sales. I would like to see how many of the local breeders collect sales tax and pay it to the state, bet you it's close to "ZERO". Stores generate great revenue. The hobby breeders simply cannot support all the consumers looking for pets, which will then send people to the internet to buy a puppy. Stores generate great revenue.
I think there should be watch force of few store/kennel owners and a few activists, monitoring the out of state breeders and we should be able to name the kennel/owner on a blacklist which will then ban the sale of their puppies from the county or even the state. This list will definitely spread from state to state and will also allow the consumers to view the Breeder Banning list online. All pet stores and kennels and even breeders that advertise should have to post the internet link to the breeder blacklist.
we call our list, "WEEZER's LIST".......I have so many breeders to post to the list. Some stores will get angry, however I don't care. They should not be selling puppies from these horrible people.......
After 24 years of the pet industry I have made my mistakes as well, however I learn from my mistakes and screen the breeders in the best manner I can. I do think with a Black List in place it will make our jobs so much easier and weed out the ones who should not be in the pet industry........

Missing My Weezer...........
My heart is Broken Today......March, 11 2013......My companion "WEEZER" passed away after 16 years. There is no way to make the hurt go away, just some crying and a few xanax. Even though I have 3 other dogs it does not take away the pain of the loss. All you dog people know what I am speaking about. I just keep thinking I will never hold that grumpy little WEEZER again. I cannot explain the attachment I had to this 6 pound Brussels Griffon, she went through so much with me during our journey. I will always miss that little WEEZER...............

What a character.....
Hello Friends, Every now and then a mistake can happen in life, it's expected. I just received a very nasty email, seems two puppies were listed in the nursery as a designer breed. Well these puppies just arrived and we noticed they were labeled incorrectly on the website. These puppies are Pedigrees. This was just a mislabeling by our website company on a picture. These puppies are being re-homed as the breed that they are. WOW did we get a nasty note from what seemed a potential client. It was just a mistake, however the customer yelled, "she depends on our pictures to be accurate at all times"........After 24 years in this business,"How do you even answer such a character"?
ANYWAY, BE SAFE IN THE SNOW!!!!!

Don't be Insulted......
I am taking a few moments to explain to the consumers, YOU must not get upset when a store or a breeder does not let you handle/play with the puppies. The over stimulation of a puppy seems to always put them under the weather. Toy breeds are very susceptible to low blood sugar and this is another reason we simply cannot let all of our shoppers play with the puppies. We want every family that leaves here to have a pleasant experience, which means a happy and healthy puppy. Please do not get upset with us and we hope your shopping experience with us will surpass your expectations.
Please remember that all the shelters allow people to spend quality time with the dogs. This means it is so kind of you to go and walk a dog in need of a home, who knows maybe you will end up adopting the dog. Remember puppies are a lot of work, sometimes an adult dog is a wiser choice. Most of the shelter dogs have amazing personalities, remember, " There are no bad dogs, just bad owners"
